The Iconic Halloween Costume Character

Halloween, the night of ghouls, ghosts, and all things eerie, brings forth an age-old tradition of dressing up in costumes. Among the myriad of characters that populate this festive night, there exists one iconic figure that stands above the rest – the enigmatic and beloved Jack-o’-lantern.

Originating from ancient Celtic folklore, the Jack-o’-lantern has evolved into an emblematic symbol of Halloween. The tale of Jack, a clever but mischievous soul who tricked the Devil himself, resonates through the ages. Denied entry into both heaven and hell upon his demise, Jack was condemned to wander the …

The Exorcist III

The third Exorcist movie is another one of those criminally underrated horror movies (Halloween III also comes to mind) and if you ask me, rivals the first one in overall awesomeness.  Sure there isn’t the crazy backstory involving all the weird going ons on set like the original but it is just as scary, but in a different way.  The first one draws its horror from what is happening to Reagan and to a certain degree the affects on her mother and Father Karras.  Exorcist III just gets down and dirty involving a series of …

I Sell the Dead

I can’t help but think of that Alice Cooper song I Love the Dead when I see this title.  This movie and Alice’s song really have nothing to do with each other (except the dead) but that’s just my nerdy brain at work.

I Sell the Dead went way to far under the radar for such a cool little movie.  I think it came out on DVD with little to no theatrical showing or even fanfare.  Which is a shame because this is an awesome one and done horror movie.  It doesn’t try to reinvent …

Halloween Day 12: Tales From the Crypt

Tales from the Crypt, at least the TV show probably makes up a good majority of my earlier horror memories. I have very specific memories of sneaking to watch it on HBO after my father had sent us to bed so he could watch Elvira alone. WHat struck me as a child about it was of course the over the top violence but also the sense of humor about it. I had never seen something so violent and horrific played for laughs. That and who could forget the Crypt Keeper.

When I got older I …
